How to Make the Cutest Gnome Wreath of Your Fall Dreams On a Budget
Witches, it's time to get your craft on! Let us introduce our Halloween gnome wreath craft - a mysterious and stylish way to decorate your home this Halloween. This charming decoration is perfect for adding a touch of whimsy to your decor and is surprisingly easy to make. Plus, it's a great way to recycle those old nylon tights you never wear! So if you're looking for a fun and festive way to decorate for Halloween, be sure to give our gnome wreath craft a try.
To get started, gather these supplies:
Bindle & Brass Dried Natural Baby’s Breath
Witch Hat Frame
Floral Wire
Spray Paint
Shears
Trouser Socks
Small Plastic Ball
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors
1. Prepare the Witch Hat Frame
Whether you find a framed witches hat already bare or with decor on it like ours pictured above, you'll want to clip off the extras, so you don't see them under your stockings. Once it's cleared, you're ready for the next step!
2. Cover the Wire Frame with Nylon Tights
Finally, a use for those nylon tights collecting dust in your bottom drawer! Slide one over the top of the hat, letting it bunch at the brim. Next, tie the open end and cut it down the side of the tights to create an opening slightly smaller than the length of the hat's brim. That will allow you to wrap that piece of nylon around the brim.
3. Stuff the Witches Hat with Oak Leaf Branches
Turn the freshly wrapped witches hat over so you can begin sliding Dried Oak Leaves into it. Be sure to angle and fill them in to give your gnome a full, rich beard! We chose to use the Mango Oak Leaves, but we also have Harvest Oak Leaves if you want a more colorful variety of leaves for the beard. To secure the branches, wrap them with floral wire to the wire frame under the nylon. If done correctly, they should hang nicely in place.
4. Paint & Glue Ball to the Leaves
You're almost done! Grab whatever you collected to be your gnome's nose (we chose a plastic eyeball), and proceed to paint it. After it dries, hot glue it to the center of the leaves just below the brim. Let it sit for a few minutes, allowing the adhesive to harden so the nose is secured. Now your gnome can breathe!
5. Tuck Baby’s Breath into the Brim of the Hat
The last step is trimming a few branches of Dried Natural Baby's Breath and tucking it into the brim. You could add ribbon around the brim to add more texture or wrap it diagonally around the hat to give a striped effect. Either way, get creative!
That's it! You have crafted your own gnome wreath out of oak leaves and nylon tights. Wasn't that easy? And it's affordable. Hang it on your front door to greet your guests, on your living room wall for your family to enjoy, or on your porch to inspire your neighbors. Wherever you put it, it's sure to bring a smile to all.
