A Little Fall on Your Thanksgiving Table: Creative Place Cards
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, now is the time to start thinking about how you want to decorate your table. Place cards are a must-have for any Thanksgiving feast, and this year, we've got a stylish and easy DIY project for you. With just a few supplies, you can make beautiful place cards that will add a touch of elegance to your holiday table. So roll up your sleeves, put on some tunes, and get ready to create!
What You'll Need:
Bindle & Brass Mini Bouquets (found at select Home Depots) or other dried naturals
Foam pumpkins with a hollow core (the mini ones!)
Butter Knife
Baking Soda
Paint Brush
Skewer
Paper, Leather, or Marking Stick
Scissors
Marker
1. Start by carving the top off of your gourd. This will allow you to create a vessel to hold your mini-bouquets.
2. Now, you'll want to give your foam pumpkins a durable finish. Trust us, it adds a whole layer of sophistication to what is otherwise a pretty basic decoration. Mixing one part of baking soda with one part of paint will easily achieve that upgrade. We love the look of stone, but feel free to use any color that matches your Thanksgiving theme.
3. After the pumpkins are dry, it's time to add the flowers. First, glue the scrubbing pad to the inside of your pumpkin to give structure to the arrangement. Push the skewer into the foam pumpkin within the pad, leaving about 5 inches at the top.
4. Time to arrange the flowers. Cut the stems off your Bindle & Brass mini bouquets so that they are about 3 inches long. Start with the focal flower, then arrange the filler, and place the highlights throughout. Top your Pumpkin by pressing it into the remaining skewer, tilting it at different angles to show the flower arrangement.
5. Use your marker or pen to write each guest's name on a piece of cardstock or plant marker and place it into the arrangement.
And that's it! Your place cards are now ready to be placed on your Thanksgiving table. These little guys will impress your guests and make everyone feel at home. They would also make adorable hostess gifts or everlasting autumn decor. If you try it out yourself, tag us on Instagram @bindleandbrass so we can see how it turned out. From all of us here, have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
